When I first met Alyssa and JC, they were so excited to be planning a wedding. With both of them being teachers, they had the organization down to a science! The soon-to-be bride with a wedding binder is a girl after my own heart! Alyssa also mentioned that she would love if I could capture a few video clips of their day as well. I jumped at the chance, as this is something I’m hoping to incorporate in my coverage of wedding days much more in the future!
This day was super memorable to me partly because of this lovely weather we get here… you just never know what is going to happen. As we were driving to the reception location where we were to take ALL of the photos, Chrissy (my right hand lady) kept saying… “wow, those clouds look really ominous.” I thought nothing of this, because I just LOVE crazy looking clouds in photographs and we got a ton of them this day. However, right as I got the entire bridal party lined up and ready for our first shots, the wind picked up something crazy! It got really cold, and we ran over to an area with some cover… and then the downpour happened. Not just your normal spring shower, but a BLOWING rain right into our faces. I was mortified for this poor group of people I had forced out into the elements…. but then I turn and see everyone laughing and some of the guys taking video of the entire thing! The guys gave up their jackets for all the ladies and we waited it out. In about 5 minutes, the rain passed and the sun came back out. Gotta love Kansas weather!
That sun eventually set against a sky of diminishing storm clouds and I got what has become one of my most favorite shots of a couple to date! I want to thank JC, Alyssa and their entire wedding party for being such troopers with me! This whole wedding day was one I will never forget!
